I'm a member of a software development team that has recently started using a wiki to document our project. So far, we're finding it a very natural and efficient way to collaborate and to get material up on the web for ourselves and for our users.
Having developed a lot of printed documentation for digitization projects, and having benefited from staff's comments on how to make that documentation more effective, I'm interested in exploring the use of a wiki as a workspace for digitization teams. Using wikis as enterprise groupware and knowledge management systems has been a common topic in the tech press lately (example). Some wiki platforms are even available that focus specifically on documentation, such as dokuwiki.
If the corporate world can use wikis, they are surely mainstreamed enough that they could be used to support digitization projects. I'd be interested in hearing from someone who's tested this theory.
